"Beelzebub — The share of public ownership declined because millions of shares of stock were sold to investors, raising more than $20 billion for the company"

David, was there a split in the shares? Answer: No.

Generally when a stock is in demand the price goes up, David.

As the previous poster stated clearly, the Volt was a total bust. They relied on Volt sales to boost company profits. It didn't work.

Look at the share price over the past 3 years from the date of bankruptcy, David. I repeat - no split.

GM was and continues to be a dying company kept alive by artificial means.

David - over the last 3 years GM stock has dropped by 22%. Also, GM was allowed a $15B tax write off on their losses as part of the bankruptcy deal in 2009 which is not factored into your numbers. And don't forget that they paid off part of the government loan with another government loan that is not disclosed on their balance sheet.

How could they reduce their government ownership (debt) from 61% to 32% when their stock price declined by 22% since the date they filed bankruptcy?

Please respond.

GM got a bailout - then crashed and burned on the Chevy Volt

Ford didn't take a bailout and Ford is doing quit well.

Simple difference in Socialism (GM) vs free market Capitalism (Ford)

You can read about it in a book that was published before I was born: Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand

Did you hear the latest? The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has recommended the ban of all hand-held and hand-free cell phone use inside moving vehicles WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE ONSTAR PHONE SYSTEM THAT IS BUILT INTO GM CARS! What's next? All GM cars are exempt from paying toll road fees?

It's only a matter of time before the GM CEO demands the immediate arrest and prosecution of George Zimmerman in the Trayvon Martin shooting! :D
