Good call on the mini ice age I was taught about in 75 when I lived in Eastern Ohio. Michigan and Ohio had blackouts once every blue moon in weather conditions that would make most left coasters freak out … and the wires were above ground back then.

Quit your whining, John. When your power comes on for 2you hours a day so you can recharge your batteries that actually runbthe stuff in your mud house, then you are living in a third world country.

We have it pretty good here because we pay through the nose for it. Every conservative I know whines about windmills and solar panels and anything that doesn’t belch black smoke to generate electricity.

Computernerd: Yes, I remember I used to go in with my father to pay the bill, and at the Detroit Edison office we also picked up some bulbs. At the time, no one possibly could have imagined that the federal government in Washington would turn eco-fascist and ban Edison’s great invention, the incandescent light bulb, as has happened. I feel sorry for youngster today because they never lived in a free country.

John, I grew up in Madison Heights, MI. I remember Detroit Edison always handing out the light bulbs. In fact, I think right before they stopped, my Dad went and got a couple of boxes. They lasted until we moved to California in early 1976.
