This is what "prosperity" looks like to Jerry the Jesuit. The leaders(cardinals, bishops, and priests) are doing just dandy, amassing great fortunes and decking out and building the infrastructure(cathedral) with loyal members of the union(church), all paid for with taxpayer money(selling indulgences).

But if you look around, or have lived in California for any amount of time, you realize the majority of your neighbors are not really doing better, and things have become more and more close, more and more people are being pinched by want. Yes the leadership has sold the right to eternal life to the chosen ones for money, but the rest are being left to die under fear of breaking the law of regulations. It's looking more and more like Mexico, even the fortified castles that house the rich.

That's a really good point that, thanks to absurd regulations, California's housing market doesn't reflect current demand. It doesn't build enough when it's needed. And it builds too much when it isn't needed, as in the recent boom/bust cycle.

Can't this state do anything right?
