Steven,

I use to for many, many years, believe that S. California should be the 51st state - yet now, I'm not so sure.

Why?

When has any politician/ bureaucratic promoted inititiative, advanced as benefiting the people - actually done so?

To cynical ... maybe.

The idea of secession being advanced within some circles in Texas is even more interesting - but would the above problem be the same?

But if "our" multi-Trillion dollar Military/ War Industry could be brought under some reasonable control - maybe it would be worth it.

Certainly public accountability & responsibility is a bigger problem for politicians - the bigger "their" budget.

"the new confab will be a far cry from a call to arms to secede from the tyrannical central state..."

Yup, just goes to show that if we want justice and want to get this giant parasite off our back we will NEVER be able to count on politicians to do it for us.
