Your eyes on California Government

Katy Grimes: Last night on my local FOX 40 news channel, the California Department  of Fire (CDF) predicted that “the current drought” would increase wild fires in California this summer.

Huh? What drought? Didn’t we just have more rain a couple of days ago? I can’t even put my rain coats away yet.

With record rainfall (and snow) this year, authorities on the same night on the news are actually warning about the  massive snow runoff from Mount Shasta into the Sacramento and American Rivers and the potential for drownings.

This is more of the same in California – every year, whether it’s a dry or wet winter, water and fire officials report drought conditions, probably for two purposes: One, to “predict” an upcoming water shortage since most of Northern California’s water flows south, and two, to give the Southern California fire officials positive PR for the inevitable fires that take place during the hot summer months.

But who do they think they are kidding?  And isn’t it funny that I can’t find a link to the FOX 40 news report, which was a 5-second blip on the news. Is this more California disinformation?
