The boom ended when first the ogre LBJ, then the crook Nixon raised taxes while removing us from the gold standard, thus causing the stagflation (stagnation plus inflation) Depression of the 1970s.

Like Greece, California — and after it, America — are headed for a high-tax, high-inflation, high-spending, high-wasting crash and Depression. Bush is the main culprit in the disaster, with Obama now cooperating, and Arnold and the California Legislature accomplices. And you can take that to the bank. Actually, you can’t, because the banks soon will be bankrupt.

Unfortunately, Anthony, the “real” world has become a “head-on-a-stick” world. At least Steinberg and the other recipients of the Kennedy Award tried to get beyond this and work together to help meet the needs of our state.
