Unfortunately for eveyone, the 287 G program operates without much public scrutiny. For that matter, the most of the immigration enforcement arena does. I've tried to track Sac's 287 program detainees, and it's pretty hard, and mostly inaccessible. I beleive the 287 G program was a way to help silence many of the municipal law enforcement chiefs' complaints about illegals running amok in their jurisdictions, flooding their jails, and committing high profile crimes. Sheriff's and police chiefs have to agree to non-disclosure agreements in joining the program so the feds can do their work in secrecy all the while pretending to address the criminal aliens and illegal aliens, and give the local LEO's some plausible cover about the issue in their communities.
