We wuz robbed!
There’s an old rule in journalism that says always credit your sources. I think they still teach it in Journalism School. Anyway, someone ought to school Sacramento Bee blogger Torey Van Oot in this practice. I’m referring to this Capitol Alert blog entry, posted at 10:41 on the morning of Tuesday, Jan. 26: “Steinberg looks to rename LOB after Dem strategist Bill Cavala.” It’s a short post that does little more than quote from Senate President Pro Tem Darrell Steinberg’s Jan. 11 resolution to name the Legislative Office Building after long-time Democratic strategist William L. Cavala. For most readers, it would appear that Van Oot is the first person to report this little tidbit. Wrong! Here’s CalWatchdog’s original, Jan. 25 blog post on the subject. Now to be fair, it’s certainly possible that Van Oot independently discovered the two-week-old resolution a day after we did, and never once encountered our own reporting. Van Oot could have at least advanced the story a bit… -Anthony Pignataro

Aw, poor babies. In your attempt to claw your way to relevance among the plethora of right-wing blogs, you blame poor Ms.Van Oot for not recognizing your splendid pickup of what you yourself admit is a two-week old story. Should Torey have credited YOU instead of the President pro Tem’s resolution as the source for the information? Or are you just upset that she pays more attention to information from the pro Tem’s office than from your blog.
Of course, since the late Mr. Cavala was a Democrat, maybe your blog was the last place she would have expected to find anything positive about him.
